Reliability of Condoms from the Viewpoints of Contraceptive Methods

Abstract
Feactors affecting on reliability of condom are quality of condom and behaviour of condom users. Failure is more likely to be due to user error than product defect. Condom failure (breakage and slippage) occurs as a result of improper condom use behaviour. The condom breakage rate range from 0.6 percent to 5.3 percent and the slippage rate range from 0.1 percent to 5.4 percent. When condoms are used correctly and each sexual intercourse, the first years contraceptive failure rate can be as low as 3 percent per 100 women. Condoms are the only contraceptive method proven to reduce the risk of sexually transmitted disease infection and HIV infection. Thus condom can be used as a dual purpose method for confraceptive and prophylactic reasons. Improving the reliability of condom. There are need of a multi faceted strategic approach. The informations of condom use should be made accessible to all including youth, unmarried men, and sexual workers. More information is needed about how to improve the effectiveness of condom use for pregnancy prevention and HIV STD prevention. To meet the growing need of condom use, government, manufacture, retailer and health care providers should offer condom at low price and good quality condom.
